The Goodnight Caterpillar Review and Stress Free Kids Giveaway :: CLOSED
Find this giveaway and other fabulous giveaways over @ Mom Most Traveled's Fall Blog Carnival.
As adults we know how much stress can wear us down. Deadlines, rushed schedules, errands to run, bills to pay, spinning wheels - some days it feels like it never ends! But we do what we can to alleviate pressure and unwind when we need to. We can communicate that we need a break, a nap, a vacation, do yoga, or get a massage.
Now. Take what you know about stress and try to apply it to a child's mindset. They may not know about bills {thank goodness for that}, but they do feel stress on some level. Especially with homework, balancing sports with schoolwork, chores, feeding off of your stress, or even just everyday frustrations that children may experience. How do they alleviate that stress and let it go?
That's where Lori Lite comes in. Atlanta mom and entrepreneur - you may recognize her from ABC's TV show, Shark Tank. Lori developed "Stress Free Kids" a line of books and cds that help families deal with stress, anxiety, even anger together. Here is a clip from her Shark Tank appearance:
Here is Lori's video update after her appearance on the show. Plenty of wonderful things are on the horizon for Lori and her homegrown company. Be sure to watch that video update, by the way, to hear about the contest Stress Free Kids is putting on and how you can enter to win either a signed full set of books and CDs or Lori might just come out and do an author reading at your child's school!
I received a copy of "The Goodnight Caterpillar" to review. This beautifully illustrated children's relaxation story is meant to focus on muscle awareness and help to relax the body and mind. I can see why! The story itself is endearing. A young girl happens upon a caterpillar who is tied up in knots, in a huge hurry, and he's really quite uptight. She starts to calm him and he eventually relaxes so he can finish building his cocoon. While Charlie is a little young to fully grasp the relaxation techniques used, she did enjoy the pictures thoroughly. I can easily see this and other Stress Free Kids books becoming part of our nightly story and bed time routine. What a great way to unwind after a long day!
Here's a little more information about Stress Free Kids from the website:
Every parent in the world wants their children to learn to relax, improve their self-esteem, manage anger, and fall asleep easier. Our products will introduce you and your children to the proven techniques of deep breathing, progressive muscular relaxation, visualizations, and affirmations/positive statements. We have added CDs for teens and adults. We want your whole family to manage stress, anxiety and anger!

I'm thrilled to offer one of my readers a copy of Lori Lite's Indigo Ocean Dreams cd!
Indigo Ocean Dreams is a 60 minute CD/audio book designed to entertain your child in an ocean setting while introducing them to four relaxation and stress-management techniques. Children follow their sea friends along as they learn to release and manage anger with Angry Octopus, build self-esteem with Affirmation Weaver, implement breathing with Sea Otter Cove and visualize with Bubble Riding. Designed as the sequel to Indigo Dreams, this CD offers longer stories and expands on the relaxation techniques of breathing, visualizations, muscular relaxation and affirmations. Ideal for older children ages 6-12, or as step two for those already familiar with Indigo Dreams. Engaging characters present these adult level techniques in an easy to follow format that makes it fun for any child to learn.
This review was written strictly based on my opinion, take it or leave it. I merely received the product itself to review, no compensation. You can read more about my reviews in my Acknowledgment Policy.

My son is still pretty young, but he stresses over food and being pushed to finish his medical foods. We try hard not to create any future eating problems or anxieties, but it is difficult when a child has a medical condition.

My daughter and former son-in-law share custody of my grandson. He has been going back and forth between their homes for almost two years. As he gets older, this is going to be a problem with all of his school activities and outside activities. Plus, I don't want him to forget Grandma as I cannot go to see him due to health reasons and my daughter will not come to see me.
thank you,
Christine

My daughter sometimes takes what people (including classmates) to heart. She has been told that she is not cool and that she is stupid or fat and she is simply none of the above. I have been trying to teach her that most of them are just jealous because she is SO cool.
