Being a former gamer girl, I like keeping up to date with fun & interactive games that are out there even if Charlie still has a few years to go. So I was excited to see what JumpStart was all about. From the site:
Clever! Designed for 3-10 year olds JumpStart allows your child to hone and master skills through exploring and problem solving in a safe online atmosphere. First your child makes their Jumpee, their avatar or character they will be playing. You can choose from a number of options to make it look like your child or just let them have fun with it! Then the adventure begins with the guided help of Frankie, the pup that seems to run the show in this virtual world called Adventureland. Your child will play games, solve puzzles, read, learn math, dance, and so much more all while learning and using their noggin. They even get their own house, which of course they can design however they want.JumpStart is an award-winning adventure-based 3D virtual world that is super-personalized, wildly imaginative and really fun, but don't let that fool you - it also teaches math, reading, and critical thinking skills so kids get a real jump start in life.
JumpStart graciously set me up with a membership so I could check it out first hand. And because I'm sure you're all curious, I named our little Jumpee "Nicole Twinklecolt". I thought it suited our little explorer quite nicely. During my adventure, I had Charlie in my lap as she flashed a few grins while I found my way around and did a few tasks in the game. Cute graphics and friendly personalities throughout the land. Here are a few screenshots I took while playing the game to better share some of the different aspects of the game.
There is also an online forum for parents to talk about talk about JumpStart, perhaps figuring out how to help their child find a certain area in the game, or to simply offer feedback on how game play could improve.
I loved what I saw from JumpStart! It is a great learning tool for your kids, especially now for summertime to keep those brains working while they aren't in school!!

No need to enter me, mine's too old. I just wanted to say how terrific Jump Start is, this was one of the first computer games my son played.
I give Jump Start a lot of credit for teaching my son subliminally while he had a terrific time playing.
Great review Mrs. Cox, you've certainly got a way with words!
